Last few years have been magnificent for Indian automotive industry as market received a hefty growth. This fast growing influence many global makers and forced them to introduce their luxurious products in Indian car market. Small car- a guarantee of success in Indian car market and this strategy is followed by almost all the auto giants as they introduced their low priced small hatchbacks in the country. Even luxury car makers such as Mercedes, BMW and Audi are planning to bring in small hatchbacks across the nation. In-fact BMW India has launched its Mini brand with Mini range of cars at the 11th Indian Auto Expo 2012. Here is the list of few most popular cars in the country.

Hyundai i10: Hyundai Motors India, country's largest car exporter and second largest passenger vehicle manufacturer, has launched various small cars in India. In simple words it is the only or biggest rival of Maruti Suzuki India, undisputed king of hatchback segment. Hyundai i10 is the best example of luxury, class and innovation which recorded massive sales in Indian automotive industry. I10 is available in two different petrol versions that are 1.1 L, IRDE petrol engine that produces 66.7 PS of top power and 10.1 kgm of peak torque, whereas the 1.2 L kappa petrol motor that developes 80 PS of peak power and 11.4 kgm of peak torque. Recently company also offered LPG variant of i10 which allow its users to toggle between petrol and LPG fuel guise. It is good performer and provides hassle free drive.

Ford Figo : Ford India offered its most successful car model Figo in India at an astonishing price range of Rs. 3.60 lakh to Rs. 5.41 lakh. Despite of small hatchback it offers the feel of a big car. This car comes in both petrol and diesel models. The 1.2 L petrol power-mill belts out 71 PS of maximum power and 102 Nm of top torque. On the other hand, the 1.4 L, Duratorq diesel engine that also duties Ford IKON and Ford Fiesta pumps out 69 PS of top powe r and 160 Nm of top torque.

New Maruti Swift : It has been one of the most successful premium hatchback in Indian automotive market. Car is available in both petrol and diesel versions- the petrol car is affixed with 1.2 L K seies petrol powertrain while the diesel model comes equipped with 1.3 L DDiS diesel engine. The diesel engine comes loaded with a multi-point common rail fuel injection system which offers better fuel efficiency and better combustion. The engine of the car is linked with five-speed manual transmission gearbox and it also a BS IV compatible.

Maruti Alto K10: Maruti Alto K10 has been the best selling small car in Indian car market and it comes loaded with a 1.0 L, K10 engine that produces 68 PS of top power at 6200 RPM and 90 Nm of top torque at 3200 RPM.
